Satarupa Sanyal is a renowned Indian film director, producer, lyricist, poet, and social activist, widely known for her powerful storytelling and contribution to Indian parallel cinema. A National Award-winning lyricist and filmmaker, she made her directorial debut with the critically acclaimed Bengali film “Anu” (1998), which focused on women’s empowerment and social issues. Over the years, Sanyal has directed and produced several notable films, short films, and documentaries that convey strong social messages, promote gender equality, and explore human emotions. Apart from filmmaking, she is also an acclaimed writer and lyricist, having penned numerous songs and scripts for films and television.
